You know what made me smile, today?
Seeing two guys, maybe early 30s, walking along, holding hands, relaxed, confident, smiling, very much in love, and NOT being attacked, ridiculed, or abused in any way.
In fact I saw many people smile at them as they walked past, myself included. What a long way we have come in this small town, if on a Saturday afternoon, two people regardless of their gender, race, or sexual orientation can walk along so openly without fear in a place where not long ago, there was much hate crime and discrimination against many “types of people” – ethnic minorities, the gay community, etc….
Thank you, guys, whoever you are, for playing your part in highlighting that acceptance IS slowly happening, by daring to be whoever the hell you are and not letting prejudice prevail.
